Virginia HIT Regional Extension Center Announces Preferred Partners (6/15/10)
Virginia HIT, the federally designated Regional Extension Center for Virginia, in partnership with the Center for Innovative
Technology, today announced its preferred electronic health record (EHR) partners to work with primary care physicians across
the Commonwealth (including pediatricians and obstetricians/gynecologists). These three partners — Allscripts, athenahealth,
and MDLand — will provide a Software as a Service (SaaS) solution to approximately 2,300 physicians to meet EHR certification
requirements for Meaningful Use. Additional services will include education, technical, and implementation resources.

VHQC Awarded $12.4 M Grant to Accelerate Electronic Health Records Adoption (2/15/10)
VHQC, in partnership with the Center for Innovative Technology, Community Care Network of Virginia
and the Medical Society of Virginia has received a two-year, $12.4 million grant.
The funding from the US Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the National
Coordinator for Health Information Technology, will support a statewide Health Information
Technology Regional Extension Center to help primary care providers adopt and use electronic
health records.
VHQC Board Elects New Officers (1/28/10)
VHQC elected three new officers to lead the company’s Board of Directors: William Kallio, of
Richmond, Virginia, is Chairman; Carolyn E. Thomas, M.D., of Richmond, Virginia, is Vice-Chairman;
and Kenneth J. Walker, M.D., of Pearisburg, Virginia, is Secretary/Treasurer. Mr. Kallio is the
first non-physician elected as VHQC’s Board Chairman.
