Appeal a Medicare Notice
What We ReviewVHQC reviews written notices from healthcare providers that say Medicare will not pay for your care. All Medicare patients, including Medicare Advantage enrollees, are entitled to make these appeals.
When to AppealOur review is designed to protect you from premature hospital discharge or inappropriate discontinuation of services provided by skilled nursing facilities, home health agencies, hospices, comprehensive outpatient rehabilitation facilities, and hospital beds in which you receive both inpatient and skilled care ("swing beds").
If you ask for a VHQC review as soon as you receive the notice from your healthcare provider, we can make a decision before you could become financially responsible for continued care. If you miss the deadline or decide to ask for a review later, the process and its consequences may be different.
