provided in support of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS):
The Virginia Health Quality Center (VHQC)
offers a range of services to a variety of clients.
As the Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) for
Virginia, VHQC partners with
Virginia
’s health care community to improve patient care.
QIOs are largely
not-for-profit community-based organizations whose mission is to collaborate
with healthcare providers and the patients they serve to make significant
changes and improvements in the quality of health care.
These improvements are accomplished under the guidelines and
recommendations of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
While the VHQC works with numerous partners to
improve care for Medicare patients, patient care improvements are made that
benefit all patients, regardless of age, payer or setting of care.
